Event Information

On October 13, 2012, our community will rally together to prepare over 100,000 meals to feed starving children! Schools, churches, and businesses are all working together to meet this goal. In just two hours, each volunteer will package over 300 meals. You've always said that you want to make a difference. Take this opportunity to do just that!

These healthy, ready-to-eat meals are a revolutionary food product developed by some of the world's leading food scientists at Cargill, Pillsbury, General Mills, and Archer Daniels Midland. The food is a combination of rice, soy, vitamins, dehydrated vegetables, and other nutrients. In one serving, about 75% of a child's daily requirement for a healthy diet is provided. One packet provides six nutritionally complete meals for malnourished and starving children around the world.

Every day, 30,000 children die of hunger and malnutrition. This is more than AIDS, malaria, and tuberculosis combined.

There are more hungry people in the world than the combined populations of USA, Canada, and the European Union.

One in seven people will go to bed hungry tonight.

$10 per month can feed a child the nutritious food he needs for one year.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Muskingum, Morgan and Guernsey Counties [See all]

How would you like to feel like a star!? Being a Big Brother, Big Sister or Big Family is one of the most amazing experiences you will ever have! You have the opportunity to help shape a child's future for the better by empowering him or her to achieve. And the best part is, you will have a blast! You and your Little can share the kinds of activities you already like to do. Play sports together. Go on a hike. Read books. Eat a pizza with extra anchovies. Or just give some advice and inspiration. Whatever it is you enjoy, odds are you'll enjoy it even more with your Little--and you'll be making a life-changing impact. There are currently 56 boys and 30 girls in Muskingum, Guernsey and Morgan Counties waiting to be matched to a Big Brother, Big Sister or Big Family. Each child needs a caring adult friend willing to spend 2 days per month with them...someone who is willing to talk to them, listen to what they have to say, recognize the child's inner potential and nurture it. It's not about spending money. It's about building a friendship to last a lifetime!
